Nuestro próximo viaje, saldrá de la provincia de Salamanca para visitar Las Médulas y Astorga en la región de León.
Las médulas es un entorno paisajístico español formado por una antigua explotación minera de oro romana en la comarca del Bierzo, cerca de León. Esta considerada la mayor mina de oro a cielo abierto de todo el Imperio romano. El trabajo de explotación dejó como resultado un paisaje de arenas rojizas, cubierto por castaños y robles. Se considera como el Gran Cañón español. Para admirar la belleza de este lugar realizaremos una ruta de senderismo de una hora y media aproximadamente para llegar a uno de los miradores más bonitos de la zona donde haremos un picnic y disfrutaremos de este maravilloso entorno.
Por la tarde nos dirigiremos a Astorga, localidad que nació como una instalación militar romana para una de las guerras más sangrientas y complicadas que Roma dirimió en la península Ibérica, la guerra contra los astures que duraría 10 años. Astorga no sólo cuenta con restos de la cultura romana sino con espectaculares obras arquitectónicas como el neogótico Palacio Episcopal de Astorga, obra de Antonio Gaudí. Esta es una de las únicas tres obras de Gaudí que se pueden ver fuera de Cataluña. Tras visitar esta pequeña ciudad, joya del antiguo reino de León nos dirigiremos a Las Médulas.

Our next trip will leave the province of Salamanca to visit Las Médulas and Astorga in the León region.
Las marrows is a Spanish landscape environment formed by an ancient Roman gold mining operation in the Bierzo region, near León. It is considered the largest open pit gold mine in the entire Roman Empire. The exploitation work left as a result a landscape of reddish sands, covered by chestnut trees and oaks. It is considered the Spanish Grand Canyon.
To admire the beauty of this place, we will take a hiking route of approximately one and a half hours to reach one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the area where we will have a picnic and enjoy this wonderful environment.
In the afternoon we will go to Astorga. This town was born as a Roman military installation for one of the bloodiest and most complicated wars that Rome fought in the Iberian Peninsula, the war against the Asturians that would last 10 years. Astorga not only has remains of Roman culture but also spectacular architectural works such as the neo-Gothic Episcopal Palace of Astorga, the work of Antonio Gaudí. This is one of only three works by Gaudí that can be seen outside of Catalonia. After visiting this small city, jewel of the ancient kingdom of León, we will head to Las Médulas.
